Soy Alejandra y mi empresa de joyería es 2212jewelry, nací en buenos aires y vivo en esta ciudad, toda la vida me ha gustado viajar y he recorrido muchos lugares, pero yo sigo buscando un lugar para mi que aun no lo encontrado del todo, mientras tanto es aquí, en buenos aires.

Tell us who you are, where do you live, something special about you ...

I’m Alejandra and my jewelry business is 2212 jewelry, born in Buenos Aires, and I have lived in this city all my life. I love to travel, I’ve visited lots of places, but I still searching for a place to call my own, haven’t quite find it. In the meantime I’m here: in Buenos Aires.

 
¿Cuándo y como empezaste a crear tus joyas?

Estudie psicología al terminar el secundario y hasta hoy sigo ejerciendo la profesión. Paralelamente siempre el arte ocupo un lugar muy importante en mi vida, en 1983 comencé a tomar clases de pintura (luego de una infancia y adolescencia llena de cursos y escuelas de arte, teatro y música) y pinte mucho hasta que en 2003 cuando conocí la joyería contemporánea. Me enamore de ella. El fuego, los metales las texturas llenaron todas mis necesidades y expectativas de creación y me aboque totalmente a crear joyas.
Hace un año hemos abierto con mi pareja (el es joyero colombiano) una escuela de joyería en nuestro taller donde compartimos todo lo que sabemos con los alumnos.

When and how did you start creating your jewelry?

I studied Psychology right after High School and until today I being in the practice. At the same time art always had have a very special place in my life, in 1983 I began a painting course ( after a childhood and teenage years full of Art School and art courses, theater and music) I painted a lot until 2003 when I came across contemporary jewelry. I fell in love. The fire, the metals, and the temperatures felt all my creative needs and expectations, falling head-in A year ago we opened with my partner ( a Colombian jewelry-maker) a jewelry school in our studio, where we share all that we have learned to our students.

¿Cómo es tu proceso creativo? ¿Qué es lo que te inspira?

Me inspiran diferentes cosas, desde paisajes, la naturaleza, olores, colores, imágenes, sueños, a veces solo el disfrute de trabajar con el metal. La improvisación tiene mucho que ver en mi proceso creativo ya que en mi mente se disparan muchas imágenes al mismo tiempo y a veces debo trabajar en 3 o 4 piezas a la vez por que vienen a mi imágenes completamente opuestas que no podría plasmar en una sola pieza. Tengo en mi mesa de noche papel y lápiz por que me surgen ideas permanentemente.

What about your creative process? What inspires you?

I get inspiration from many different things; from landscapes, nature, colors, scents, images, to dreams and sometimes just by joy of working with metal. Improvisation has a lot to do with the process of creating, because my mind shots me many images, all at the same time and many times I have to work on 3 to 4 pieces at once. All because the images came to me, completely opposite and unrelated among each other, and they could not be expressed in one piece. I have on my night table pencil and paper because the ideas do not stop coming.

Si, vendo por mi pagina de Internet, por galerías virtuales y por tiendas en buenos aires y otras provincias

Are you selling your creations somewhere else besides Etsy?

Yes, I sell them on my webpage, on virtual galleries and in shops in Buenos Aires and other provinces.

Si, soy psicoanalista.

Yes, I am a Psychoanalyst.

Háblanos de tus gustos

Soy muy ecléctica, he hecho varias cosas en mi vida y soy muy curiosa. Me fascina bucear, soy buzo de rescate desde hace muchos años, los colores debajo del agua, los sonidos y las imágenes me encantan.
He estudiado (además de psicoanálisis) Etología animal, que es el estudio del comportamiento en animales, y he trabajado con un veterinario ayudando a animalitos con problemas de conducta ( al estilo del popular encantador de perros).
Me gusta también la fotografía, un poco la tecnología. Viajar sin duda y conocer otras culturas, me encanta saber de las costumbres de otras mujeres en otras latitudes.
Otra pasión es el Cine.

Tell us about your tastes

I am very eclectic, I have done a variety of things throughout my life and I am very curious. I love diving: I am a certified rescue diver for a few now; the colors, the sounds and the images underwater have captured me.
I have studied ( beside Psychoanalysis) Animal Ethology: the study of animal behavior, and I have worked as a Veterinarian helping little animals with behavioral problems, in the very popular show The Dog Whisperer.
I like Photography, its techniques. I love to travel and to know about other cultures, I love to learn about customs women have in other latitudes. An other passion is filmmaking.

Plenty as well, specially the music that keeps me company. Eclectic too, from Manu Chao to Air, going through the classics: Beatles, The Cure, Gabriel, Blur, Café Tacuba, Marisa Monte, Morcheeba, African Music, Asian Music, and a few Argentineans such as Juana Molina or Budda Sounds.

Estoy muy feliz de estar en este grupo de EsEtsy, me siento contenida y con la sensación de que haré muchas nuevas amigas de hecho gracias a etsy he conocido a muriel de mujoyas y nos hemos visto varias veces para conversar.

Is there anything you wish to share?

As a member of the EsEtsy makes me very happy, I feel content and I have the feeling that am going to make lots of new friends. As a matter of fact, thanks to Etsy I have met Muriel from Mujoyas, and we have meet several times just to chat.

1. Cuéntanos quien éres, donde vives, algo especial sobre tí...

Hola mi nombre es Paola Zakimi, soy artista plástica y vivo en la provincia de Córdoba junto a mi hija Sofi y mi maridito.

1. Tell us who you are, where do you live, something special about you ...

Hello my name is Paola Zakimi, I’m an fine art artist. I live in the province of Cordoba, with my daughter and my hubby.

2. ¿Cuándo y como empezaste a crear tus ilustraciones y tus esculturas?

Mi gusto por el dibujo viene de mi infancia, la escultura fue una elección cuando estudiaba en la Escuela de Arte, La Pueyrredón, en ese entonces no se llamaba IUNA, y estaba en Callao y la Heras, para los que conoces BA, era una magnífica casona antigua, ahhh.... cuantos recuerdos!!

2. When and how did you start creating your illustrations and your sculptures?

I always like drawing ever since I was a little girl. Get into sculpture was a choice I made while I was in the Art School, La Pueyrredón, that back then was IUNA, and it was on Callao, and La Heras, for those who are familiar with Buenos Aires, it was a magnificent old house, ahhhhhh… so many memories!!

3. ¿Cómo es tu proceso creativo? ¿Qué es lo que te inspira?

El trabajo arduo y constante es una fuente magnífica de inspiración, todos los días dibujar o bocetar ideas hace que surgan otras. Tanto las muñecas como los dibujos están conectados. Pudo haber colaborado a esto una canción, una persona, una carta, una foto, etc... pero siempre vuelvo a lo mismo, mi cuaderno Rivadavia, hoja lisa. En él boceto y escribo todo.

3. What about your creative process? What inspires you?

Hard and constant work is a magnific source of inspiration, to draw and sketch everyday; one idea usually creates another idea. All the dolls as well as the drawings are connected. I could say that it was a song , someone, a letter, a photograph, and so on… but I always go back to my Rivadavia notebook , blank sheet. On it, I sketch and write everything.

4. ¿Vendes tus creaciones en algún otro lugar aparte de Etsy?

Sí, en Dawanda y en mi propio local.

4. Are you selling your creations somewhere else besides Etsy?

Yes, in Dawanda, and in my own store.

5. ¿Tienes alguna otra actividad?

A parte de ser madre y esposa, me gusta hacer biciturismo y tocar el piano.

5. Do you have any other activity?

Aside from being a mom and wife, I like to … and to play the piano.

Entrevistas: Mariana y Paula de branda, macraMe, diasyflores y Ciaffi

Nuestra entrevista de hoy es a Mariana y Paula, las dos hermanas que están detrás de cuatro tiendas de Etsy : branda, macraMe, diasyflores y Ciaffi.

Our interview for today : Mariana and Paula, two sisters who are in four Etsy shops: branda, macraMe, diasyflores y Ciaffi.

Contadnos quienes sois, donde vivís, algo especial sobre vosotras...

Somos Mariana y Paula, hermanas muy unidas que vivimos en Olivos, una ciudad pegada a la Capital Federal en la provincia de Buenos Aires. Aunque nos llevamos dos años y somos muy distintas, paradójicamente parecemos gemelas ya que ambas somos arquitectas y hacemos prácticamente las mismas cosas. Llegamos a decir que “somos una mujer con dos cuerpos”.

Tell us about who you are, where you live, and something special about yourselves…

We are Mariana and Paula, sisters very close, we live together in Olivos, a city next to the Federal Capital of Buenos Aires. Even when we are two years apart, and we are different, we look like twins. We both are architect, and we do practically the same things. We get to the point of saying: “we are one woman with two bodies".

¿Cuándo y como empezasteis a crear vuestros objetos?

Como ya dijimos antes nosotras somos arquitectas, y trabajamos en la profesión bastantes años hasta que en Argentina hubo una crisis muy grande y el trabajo de arquitectura para nosotras se terminó. Entonces empezamos a trabajar con una amiga que hacía vítreaux. Con ella abrimos un puesto en la Feria Artesanal de Olivos. Luego ella abandonó y nosotras seguimos en la feria hasta el 2007.

En esos años aparecieron los sitios de venta por Internet, pero nunca nos animamos a registrarnos en esos sitios porque no veíamos que fuera un buen mercado para las artesanías. A fines de 2006 descubrimos Etsy que nos encantó y decidimos probar. Al principio fue difícil porque no teníamos ni idea de lo que implicaba, aunque al poco tiempo de publicar ya empezamos a vender. Pensábamos que con sacar algunas fotos y publicar era suficiente, pero luego comprendimos que nuestras fotos no estaban a nivel, eran oscuras, las descripciones eran un desastre y así empezamos a investigar y a tratar de mejorar. Bueno, nos gustó tanto que al final dejamos la feria y nos metimos de lleno en Etsy.

La primera tienda fue diasyflores, y contemporáneamente abrimos macraMe, una técnica que aprendimos estando en la feria. Las piezas de macramé no tuvieron mucha aceptación, hasta que publicamos un collar de lechuza. Lo vendimos rápido y fue nuestra primera venta en Etsy. Inmediatamente recibimos una convo de Honolulu pidiéndonos si teníamos otra lechuza, y así se fueron vendiendo una tras otra, por eso esa tienda solo vende lechuzas hechas en macramé.

Etsy nos ofrecía posibilidades que en la feria estaban totalmente prohibidas, por ejemplo, tener mas de una tiendas o abarcar varios rubros, por lo que pudimos empezar a vender prendas tejidas y bolsas de papel en macraMe.

Como nos dimos cuenta que era confuso para los compradores tener todo en una sola tienda, nos arriesgamos y comprometimos a gestionarlas por separado, abriendo branda para los tejidos y luego Ciaffi, donde al principio ofrecíamos imágenes digitales y luego devino en tienda de cuadernos.

When and how you started creating your projects?

Like we said before, we both are architect, and we used to work in that field for many years, until here in Argentina there was a great crisis and for us the work in that field came to an end. Then, we started working with a friend who use to make vitreaux. With her we opened a post in the Feria Artesanal de Olivos.(Olivos Arts and Craft Fair ). After she left it behind, and we kept going until 2007.

During those years Internet sell sites started to boom, but we never felt like registraring on those sites, because we didn’t see as a good market for artcrafts. At the end of 2006 we discovered Etsy which enchanted us and we decided to give it a try. At the beginning it was difficult, because we didn’t have a clear idea of what it really needed. Even when little after posting our products they got sold. We thought that by only taking a few pictures it was going to be enough, but later we learned that our pictures were not at a good level; they were dark. The descriptions were a disaster. So, we started to investigate, and we tried to improve. Well, at the end we liked it so much, that we left the fair and we have dedicated ourselves entirely to Etsy.

Our first shop was diasyflores, and almost simultaneously we opened macraMe, macrame a technique that we learned while at the fair. Our macrame projects we not too popular, until we started posting an owl necklace. We sold it almost immediately, and it was our first sale via Etsy. Right after, we received a message/ conversation from a buyer at Honolulu asking if we had one more owl necklace. And that is how one after the other, one by one our macrame owl necklace were sold.

Etsy gave us possibilities that in the fair were totally prohibited; for example: having more than one shop, or having more than one category when selling. In Etsy we could sell knits and paper bags in macraMe. When we find out that it was confusing for buyers having everything in one shop, we took the chance to sell them separately, opening branda for knits later on opening Ciaffi, where at the beginning we offered digital images, to become our shop notebooks.

¿Cómo es vuestro proceso creativo? ¿Qué es lo que os inspira?

Nosotras no hacemos objetos artísticos o creativos, sino piezas con motivos clásicos y conocidos. No somos inspiradas mas bien laboriosas que nos concentramos en manejar muy bien la técnica para lograr un buen resultado.

La realización depende también del tipo de objeto. Por ejemplo para diasyflores hacemos mariposas de vidrio, un motivo tradicional, nada extraordinario, solo que tratamos de darle con el corte y la buena terminación una interpretación que hace que cuando las ven, vean una mariposa y no un trozo de vidrio.

En macraMe, siendo una miniatura tratamos de mantener las proporciones, ya que siendo una representación tiene que expresar que es una lechuza.

En Ciaffi trasladamos nuestra manía por conservar y aprovechar las cosas hasta lo último, por eso los cuadernos con tapas de cajas de descarte, o mosaicos hechos con papeles de revista, o el uso de viejas imágenes o colecciones. En estos últimos decenios el reciclaje tomó mucho auge y nos encanta poder hacer nuestro aporte aunque sea mínimo.

Y en branda, trasportamos al tejido ese gusto por la construcción. Aunque parezca una tontería, hacer una bufanda con trenzas que se van moviendo sobre el tejido o hacer una boina que va cambiando su diámetro creciendo y decreciendo, implica un ejercicio de calculo de construcción y manejo del espacio que nos satisface largamente.

How is your creative process? What inspires you?

We do not make artistic nor creative objects, but pieces with known and classic motifs. We are not inspired but we are laborious, so we focus in manage the practice and technique to achieve a good result. The end-product depends on what type of object we are working on. For example for diasyflores we make butterflies in glass, a traditional motif, nothing out of the ordinary, only that we try to give them with the last cut, and finishing details an interpretation, that would make them when you see them, look as if you looking at a butterfly and not a piece of glass.

In macraMe, been a miniature we try to keep its dimensions, because being a representation, it has to express that it is an owl.

In Ciaffi, we move in our mania to conserve, preserve, and take advantange of everything, that is why our notebooks have covers of discarded boxes, or mosaics made of magazine covers and paper, or the usage of old images or collections. In the last decades recycling has taken a spotlight and we love that we can make our contribution, as little as it may.

And in branda, we settle in with knits, the taste for building and constructing. Even if it look foolish, to make a scarf with cables/ braids that moves on the knitting, or a cap that changes diameter increasing and decreasing, it takes construction and building calculations and space management that satisfies us for a long while.

¿Vendeis vuestras creaciones en algún otro lugar aparte de Etsy?

Como ya dijimos, empezamos vendiendo las piezas de vidrio en una feria artesanal durante 5 años, pero luego de un tiempo dejamos para vender solo en Etsy.

Do you sell in your projects somewhere else than Etsy?

Like we said before, we started selling our glass pieces in a Art and Craft Fair for five years, that after a while we left behind to sell only on Etsy.

¿Teneis alguna otra actividad aparte de esta?

Gracias a que participamos algunos años en un forum italiano, tuvimos la grata fortuna de hacernos amigas de Gianna Ferretti una bioquímica italiana apasionada por su trabajo y su afán de trasmitirlo al punto que no solo escribe libros sino que también se ha especializo en blogs. Ya sea jugando o en serio con ella, en los últimos años, webeamos tanto que hoy en día tenemos un manejo informático que es una gran ayuda en nuestro trabajo.

Además nos dedicamos a atender nuestra casa y a nuestros padres que son personas mayores.

Do you have any other activity aside from this?

Thanks to our participation during several years in a Italian forum, we had the fortune to become friends with Gianna Ferretti, an Italian biochemist passionate for her work, and on her eagerness to share it she does not only write books, but she has specialized in blogs. Being serious or just playing around with her, in past year, being on the web for so long, that we have developed an amazing skill, that has become handy in our work. And we dedicated part of our time to our home and to our parents who are grown.

Hábladnos de vuestros gustos. Vuestros libros favoritos, qué música os gusta escuchar, ¿cuales son vuestras aficiones?

Nos gusta trabajar escuchando la radio, que aparte de informar pasan música de todo tipo desde tango a rock. No somos fan de ningún estilo musical, sí nos gustan las buenas piezas.

En cuanto a libros, no somos buenas lectoras, somos más bien buscadoras de imágenes, de libros llenos de fotos, arte y dibujos. Igual hemos ojeado algo en nuestra vida, adoramos haber leído algunos libros de Cortazar, García Marques y otros autores latinoamericanos.

Aunque no vamos casi nunca al cine, vimos muchas películas. Nos encantan las películas europeas, sobre todo las italianas. Vemos algo de TV, sobre todo los canales RAI y TVE del cual no nos perdemos Saber y Ganar.

Tell us about your hobbies and tastes. Your favorite books, what music do you like to listen to…

We enjoy working while we listen to the radio, because it informs and plays music from rock to tango. We are not fan of a specific music genre, but we do like good pieces/song.

About books, we are not good readers, we are better said: images searchers, books full of pictures, art and drawings. Although we have glance at something throughout our lives, we loved that we have read Cortazar, Garcia Marques, among other Latinamerican authors.

Even when we never go to the movie theater, we had seen lots of movies. We love European movies, especially Italian movies. We watch a thing or two on tv, especially channels like RAI and TVE on which we don’t miss Saber y Ganar, Jeopardy-like Spanish program.

Hola de nuevo.

Os traigo una nueva entrevista a un miembro de EsEtsy. En esta ocasión vamos a conocer a NiuTaller. Lo suyo es la cerámica. Y los objetos que crea son maravillosos.

I bring you an interview with another member of EsEtsy. This time we will meet NiuTaller. Pottery is her technique. And the objects she creates are wonderful.

1. Cuéntanos quien éres, donde vives, algo especial sobre tí...

Hola María!

Bueno, pues yo nací en Barcelona (España) donde estudié cerámica en la escuela Massana, y donde abrí mi primer taller de cerámica.

En el 2004 me trasladé a vivir a Pamplona (por razones sentimentales) y monté Niu, un taller-tienda.

Desde entonces trato de ganarme la vida con lo que hago y, aunque no es fácil, voy logrando salir adelante.

Además de vender en mi tienda, y a otras tiendas, doy clases de cerámica… y ahora va a hacer un año que abrí la tienda de etsy (el 27 de marzo será mi primer aniversario!)

1. Tell us who you are, where do you live, something special about you ...

Hello María!

Well, I was born in Barcelona (Spain), where I studied Ceramics at the Massana School, and where I opened my first ceramics Studio.

In 2004 I moved to Pamplona (for sentimental reasons) and created Niu, my studio-shop.
Since then I'm trying to make a living with what I do, and although it is not easy I keep going, selling at my store and to other shops as well, I teach ceramic classes ... and now it’s going to be a year since I opened my etsy shop (On March 27th is my first anniversary!)

2. ¿Cuándo y como empezaste a crear tus objetos de cerámica?

Desde siempre me ha atraído todo lo que estuviera relacionado con la expresión artística, de pequeña hacía collares, dibujaba y pintaba.

Pero a la hora de decidir qué estudiar me costó un montón decidirme, empecé carreras que enseguida dejé hasta que siguiendo un impulso (me apetecía mucho hacer algo con las manos) me apunté a un curso de cerámica.

Me gustó tanto que decidí estudiar cerámica, y desde entonces es lo que hago.

2. When and how did you start creating your illustrations and your ceramic objects?

I have always been attracted to everything related to the artistic expression, when I was a child I used to make necklaces, draw and paint.

But when the moment came to decide what to study I found it hard to choose, I began careers and almost immediately quit, until the moment when following an impulse (I wanted to do something with the hands) I signed up to take Ceramics classes.

I liked it so much that I decided to study ceramics , and since then this is what I do.

3. ¿Cómo es tu proceso creativo? ¿Qué es lo que te inspira?

No sé muy bien de dónde sale la primera idea, a menudo me viene cuando estoy trabajando en otras piezas que ya están en marcha, pero a partir de ahí empiezo a trabajar y a probar. Cuando ya estoy inmersa en ello soy más receptiva a lo que hay a mi alrededor y entonces cualquier cosa puede servirme de inspiración: paseando por el campo las formas que adopta la naturaleza, una exposición, un viaje, ir de tiendas.

Es bueno cualquier estímulo. Cuando ya tienes una idea observas las cosas de otra manera…procuro tener un bloc siempre a mano.

3. What about your creative process? What inspires you?

I don’t know very well where the first idea comes from, it often comes when I am working with other pieces, then I start working and experimenting. When I am already immersed in it I become more receptive to what surrounds me and then anything can be an inspiration: walking in the country watching nature forms, an exhibition, a trip, to go Shopping.

Any stimulus is good. When you already have an idea you observe things in a different way .. I try to have a note-pad always handy.

4. ¿Vendes tus creaciones en algún otro lugar aparte de Etsy?

Pues aparte de vender en mi propia tienda en Pamplona ahora mismo vendo en 3 ó 4 tiendas más y mi intención es que este número siga creciendo.

Te hablo de tiendas físicas, en lo que se refiere a tiendas on-line sólo vendo en Etsy.

4. Are you selling your creations somewhere else besides Etsy?

Apart from selling in my own shop in Pamplona, at this moment you can find my pieces in 3 or 4 more shops and I intend this number to keepgrowing.

I mean physical shops, on-line I only sell on Etsy.

5. ¿Tienes alguna otra actividad?

Además de trabajar en mis propias piezas y llevar la tienda, también doy clases de cerámica.

Me gusta introducirme en otras técnicas, y últimamente he estado haciendo cosas con telas y pintando.

5. Do you have any other activity?

Besides working at my own pieces and running the shop, I also teach ceramic lessons.

I like to introduce myself to other skills, and lately I have been doing things with fabrics and painting.

6. Háblanos de tus gustos. Tus libros favoritos, qué música te gusta escuchar, ¿cuales son tus aficiones?

Me gusta mucho leer, novelas y libros sobre los temas que me interesen en el momento.

Me gusta cualquier tipo de música depende del momento, ahora me he enganchado a spotify (un programa de Internet que tiene almacenada la música de casi cualquier autor que imagines) y estoy recuperando mis canciones de la adolescencia.

Me encanta la naturaleza y siempre que puedo doy algún paseo por el monte.

Me interesa todo lo relacionado con el crecimiento personal y me encanta viajar. Si mi economía lo permitiera cada dos por tres me iría de viaje!

6. Tell us about your tastes, your favorite books, what music do you listen to, what are your hobbies?

I like reading very much, novels and books on the topics that I am interested at the moment.

I like all sorts of music depending on the situation, now I am hooked up to spotify (an Internet program that stores music of almost any author that you can
imagine) and I am recovering songs from my teenage years . I love being in contact with nature and everytime I can I go for walks along the countryside.
I am interested in everything related to personal growth and I love travelling. If my budget would allow it I would always go travelling!

Sí, que estoy encantada de pertenecer a este team, en el que he encontrado a gente tan maja y que me ha hecho mucho más fácil y placentera la aventura en Etsy!

MUJERES CON VESTIDO: Oksana Maxwell

Desde hoy y en pequeñas series, quiero compartirles "Mujeres con vestidos" una colección de entrevistas en serie a mujeres de luz.

"De mujeres con vestidos"... Este es el nombre que le doy a un poemario en el que aún trabajo_ he venido regando algunos, que se me han escapado por entre los pliegues_.

La vida entre mujeres, y como mujeres es fuente de inspiración. La lucha diaria de ser mujer, la luz y la fuerza desde lo simple y cotidiano en esta ardua hazaña de vivir mujer.

Partiendo de la experiencia de ser mujer, una celebración constante, es de ahí de donde viene la recopilación de voces similares a las nuestras, y tan distintas como las ajenas. En fin, en algo nos vemos reflejadas, alguna siempre nos inspira y nos presta esa luz momentánea para seguir adelante.

Hoy les dejo la luz de Oksana Maxwell, la luz que capta el lente.

Y esta modelo si que tiene los vestidos bien puestos. Es una mujer emprendedora y conquistadora. Desde los catorce años figura frente a las cámaras.

Harán cinco años desde que Oksana se estableció en Europa. Y afirma que no es un cuento de hadas como parece que les sucede a muchos modelos. Ha trabajado por lo que tiene y lo que quiere. Y lo ha hecho desde diferentes países España, Francia, Italia, Noruega, Portugal y Alemania.

¿Y por qué dejar tu país de origen?

Porque en Costa Rica sencilla y desafortunadamente la industria del modelaje no existe. De ahí que: “para poder hacer arte y hacerlo una forma de vida hay que ponerse LOS VESTIDOS y emigrar”

¿Qué sigue constituyendo un reto para la mujer y para la modelo? Más aún: _como mujer el reto es conseguir ser escuchada y conseguir ser líder_. Que hay mucho más detrás del hecho de modelo _ que es todavía tabú en muchos entornos en los que se cree solo sirve para ser bella_.

Nuestra amiga en un buen ejemplo de que no es solamente belleza lo que la permite mantenerse en este medio; ella es graduada en Negocios Internacionales y obtuvo en Europa una maestría en Turismo Cultural y Gestión Cultural. Mantiene presente que se mueve en un ambiente altamente cambiante y exigente.

Tras la experiencia, su aguda percepción: Realmente para hacer una profesión del modelaje y poder perdurar en ella hay que prepararse, formarse y diversificarse en diferentes áreas. Es muy importante tanto para la comunicación, como para el aprendizaje cultural; el conocer diferentes idiomas, hay que incursionar en otros campos como: la fotografía, interpretación y actuación, publicidad, diseño, entre muchas cosas_ Oksana.

Oksana se define más que luz:
ella es confianza, pasión, alegría, optimismo...
las ganas mismas de vivir.

¿Cuál es tu postura, como mujer, en este medio a partir de tu profesión?

De una manera genuina, Oksana nos aclara que más que una postura es un deseo, el de poder servirles de ejemplo e inspiración a otras personas, poder transmitir ese mensaje auténtico y positivo. Consciente que "con la tecnología el mundo es muy pequeño y todos estamos conectados pero hay muchos mensajes vacíos y sin sentido".

Y afirma no creer que_ si el mundo lo liderara solo mujeres sería un lugar mejor_. Arraiga su convicción en el "sentido de colectividad y de apertura mental" -Por ser "el hombre complemento de la mujer y la mujer del hombre, en la posibilidad de actuar desde el propio ser y hacer el cambio con uno mismo, para poder actuar con otros y desde la propia localidad conseguir poco a poco un cambio".

¿Qué tal una sesión Oksana – ESEtsy?

Hay que organizar algo, con tantos productos creativos, y handcraft para la decoración de alguna locación o studio, está muy interesante el proyecto.

Indudablemente una mujer con vestidos, con toda la luz propia, con las ganas de triunfar y entregándose de lleno en lo que le gusta... Por lo que extiende un voto de confianza a las mujeres que nos aventuramos por caminos, carreras, ocupaciones y profesiones fuera de la norma. Reconoce que no hay fórmula mágica, pero que si se requiere de armarse de valor, perder el miedo, borrar barreras, hacerse de decisión y personalidad a prueba de momentos difíciles, que serán muchos.

Ella dice que se pasaria el dia entero mirando las tiendas, aun cuando no use muchos accesorios, pero que le es esencial un accesorio que complemente lo que vaya a vestir.

We are starting our small series of interviews: “Women wearing dresses”. A collection of insightful conversation with bright and talented women.

"Women Wearing Dresses” named after my lastest work in progress, a collection of poems reflection life among women, depicting women as a source of inspiration. The daily struggle of being: woman, light, strength, the simple survival of a arduous and constant battle to live complete and woman.

Through this series of interviews we intent to share voices similar to yours, and as different at the same time. Our purpose is to find us in some one else, to inspire and to be inspired, to share the light and be that light, shining bright just long enough to get ahead, to see the ahead.

Today we leave you with the light that captures the lens: Oksana Maxwell.

And this model surely wears and owns the right set of dresses. She’s a hardworking women, and a conqueror. Oksana’s life in front of the camaras began at the early age of fourteen.

Now, is going to be five years since Oksana moved to Europe, and she assures us that: Is not a fairy tale life, like some models’ s life seems to be. She has work for what she has and continuous to work even harder for what she wants. Oksana has worked in many different European countries such as Spain, France, Italy, Norway, Portugal and Germany.

And why leave your country?
Simple and sad, in Costa Rica, unfortunately the Fashion and Modeling Industry is non-existent. So, “to be able to make art, and to make it a lifestyle, you have to wear The Dresses and leave”

What remains a constant Challenger to the woman and to the model? Even now, as a woman the challenge is to get your voice to be heard, so you can be able to lead_ To show that there is more behind being a model, because nowadays, in some areas and social groups, where the misconception persists, and the taboo of those who believe that modeling is just being just a pretty face.

Our friend is more than a good example, that she is more than just a pretty. And she knows she needs to be more than beauty to hold her place is the Fashion and Modeling World. Oksana has a degree in International Business, and after moving to Europe she studied to get her a Masters in Cultural Tourism and Cultural Management. It never leaves her mind, that she lives in a constant changing, always demanding and highly challenging environment.

Behind the experience, her sharp perception Oksana shares some insight: Truly, to make a profession out of modeling and be able to remain in it, you have to be prepare, you have to study and must of all you have to be diverse and resourceful, have knowledge in numerous areas. Is crucial to have good communication skills, that will enable you to learn and interact across cultures. A knowledge of different languages, the interdisciplinary exposure in areas such as photography, acting, public speaking, design, to name a few.

Oksana defines herself as being

more than light: She is confidence, passion,

happiness, joy and optimism…

and the sheer desire to live.

From a social point, where do you stand, as a woman, in the modeling business?

Genuine and sincere answer Oksana wants to clarify that is more that her stand point, is her desire and motivation: to be and serve as an example to inspire people. She wants to be authentic and positive in her message. She bears in mind that “ with all the technology today the World is a smaller place, where everyone is connected, but they are so many messages empty and senseless”

She does not agree that: “if women were to lead the world, it would make the world a better place. But she is a strong supporter of having an open mind, and to be part of the collective contribution across genders. Because the man is the complementary element to the woman, and the woman of the man, both have the possibility to act from their being, to produce the change from within, to later on together act for the change in the locality, and in that way achieve a constant and positive change”.

What about a Photo Session with Oksana and ESEtsy?

We definitely have to organize something, with so many creative and innovative products, handcrafted and all. To decorate on location or in Studio, that will be an interesting project.

Undoubtedly a woman wearing dresses, shinning bright with her own light, with the drive to achieve, giving herself completely into what she loves doing… That is why she’s roaring, a casting a vote of confidence, for the women who adventure ourselves into the unconventional paths, into careers, occupations and professions out f the norm. She recognizes that there is no magic formula, but that it does require a full set of courage, a no fear attitude, a barrier free mind, and to have a set mind and a personality against difficult moments, because there will be plenty.
